Social media influencers have massive audiences that can help catapult a budding musician's career. The challenge for artists is how to get their attention. Unlike Coke or Pepsi, they can’t afford to pay for placement. Our guest today was working at a record label when she stumbled on a brilliant idea, why not create a matchmaking platform to connect these groups together. Enter Thematic, a platform that connects content creators with artists across YouTube and other digital platforms. Launched in 2018, the Thematic community has grown to over 400,000 creators in 220 countries. 

Here to tell us their story is Audrey Marshall, one of Thematic’s co-founders and their COO. Audrey is responsible for leading the company’s product development, technical programming, and business development endeavors. She has been working with, and connecting, content creators with music artists, their labels and publishers, for the past 10 years as a lead executive with the music media venture, Spin Move Media. We reached Audrey in Los Angeles.

About AUDREY

Audrey Marshall is a co-founder and the COO of Thematic. She is responsible for leading the company’s product development, technical programming, and business development endeavors. Audrey has been working with, and connecting, content creators with music artists, their labels and publishers, for the past 10 years as a lead executive with the music media venture, Spin Move Media, LLC. 

Audrey’s background is steeped in digital media entertainment, social media activation, and public relations. She specializes in creating and implementing digital strategies for music artists, content creators, and brands, with previous campaigns for Macy’s, Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, the American Cancer Society, and the L'Oréal luxe family of brands, among others. 

Audrey has developed and administered channel optimization initiatives for talents ranging from Jennifer Lopez and Thalia, to corporate clients like Warner Bros., Endemol, and L'Oréal. Audrey has a specific focus on, and passion for, digital rights management for music assets and has helped developed and managed some of the leading beauty, lifestyle, and dance channels on YouTube. At Thematic, She has driven partnerships with leading talent and music companies, including Songtrust, Kobalt/AWAL, Select Management, BBTV and Black Box. She has helped the platform grow to a thriving community of 475k+ content creators who have posted 650k+ videos using the platform, driving 26B music streams and 15M new fans for independent music artists.
